Somatic Therapy

Somatic therapy is a body-centered approach that complements traditional talk therapy by focusing on the connection between the mind, body, emotions, and nervous system.

Stress, trauma, anxiety, and difficult emotional experiences are not only processed through thoughts and words. They may also be felt, stored, or expressed in the body through tension, pain, restlessness, fatigue, changes in breathing, difficulty relaxing, or feeling disconnected from oneself.

At the Association for Multicultural Behavioral Health, we offer somatic therapy as an integrative approach to support nervous system regulation, emotional healing, and a greater sense of safety within the body. Somatic work may include body awareness, grounding techniques, gentle movement, breathwork, mindfulness practices, relaxation exercises, and sensory-based interventions such as sound and vibration.

Individual & Group Somatic Therapy

Our experienced clinicians work collaboratively with you to understand your unique history, culture, and life circumstances.

As a multidisciplinary and multilingual practice, we offer culturally responsive, trauma-informed care that honors each client’s identity, values, and lived experience — creating an environment where healing, growth, and resilience can truly take root.

Sound Bath & Nervous System Regulation

We also offer sound bath experiences as part of our somatic and mind-body services.

A sound bath uses calming sounds, vibrations, and instruments such as singing bowls, chimes, or other therapeutic sound tools to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and support emotional balance. Sound-based practices may help calm the nervous system, quiet the mind, release physical tension, and create a deeper sense of grounding and inner peace.

Sound bath sessions may be scheduled individually, for small groups, or requested for wellness events, staff support, retreats, or community programs.

A Mind-Body Approach to Healing

Somatic therapy can be helpful for individuals experiencing trauma, anxiety, chronic stress, emotional overwhelm, grief, burnout, depression, relationship stress, and difficulty feeling present or connected.

This approach does not require clients to retell every detail of painful experiences. Instead, it helps clients gently notice what is happening in the body, develop tools for regulation, and build capacity for safety, resilience, and emotional balance.

Our clinicians use somatic practices in a compassionate, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive way, meeting each client where they are and supporting healing at a pace that feels safe and manageable.
